Teens will need to learn the value of cash. Teenagers may not be in the capacity of working when involved in school and sports activities but that in no way means they shouldn’t learn the value of money. Parent who provide for each and every whim their requests do not help to educate what money means, how challenging it is to earn it, the essence of saving for what you need or how to wait for what you want. The topic of taxes need to be understood by teens, they should know how to save, the way to balance a check book and the way to budget on what they have. Earn, save, give, and devote. These are the basics about money. A good method to teach the idea is that the 10-10-80 rule. Earn the money, save 10 percent, give away 10 percent to the church or a charity organization then budget on the remaining 80 percent.
Teens need to learn how to cook, clean, and do laundry. These skills will be beneficial regardless of where a teen lives, works, or goes to school. These skills are the fundamentals of life. We know teens who know nothing about cooking besides ordering pizza. They think cleaning is throwing clothes in the hamper for their mothers, and some don’t know how to start a washing machine let alone much soap to work with. These fundamental skills will amount to a good partner in relationships and make your teen a better adult since they’ll understand sharing household activities.
Teens need to learn basic conversation without use of slang. Please, how do you do, thank you, nice to meet you, and I’m sorry are the basics that a teen should be comfortable with. It is not old- fashioned to expect a teen to say hi and invite you when speaking with adults or parents. It’s respect. These skills will be used during job interviews dealing with work place customers, and business deals as a boss or as an employee. Teens that speak clearly polite dialogue and will walk off with a better chance of being employed when being interviewed.
Teens will need to know and keep personal hygiene. Clean nails, clean teeth and hair, and generally a clean appearance will help to increase their self esteem, enhance mental attitudes, and improve the overall state of health Of the team regardless of where one comes from. Soap And water are among the least expensive ways to look after the teen skin and prevent or cure acne. A fresh appearance tells the world that a teenager has pride and cares in what she or he does.
